When Borrow Wood Schoool got in touch with us – they asked us..
“Can you make a wellington boot rack – something the children can leave their Wellies on for wet days outside ?””No worries- I think we can manage that” I replied. So the school came back to us and said “Great, can you make 10 ? 🙂 ” and the challenge was on for the summer !
In a few days we’d knocked up a design and the Mark one “Welly Wagon” was the result.
We dropped this off just before the end of term and worked out the logistics to make 9 more “Mark Twos” With 600 25mm pegs we needed :
over 150 Metres of Dowel ,
3 full sheets of ply
30m of 1×1 PAR timber
and another 18m of 75mm x 10mm
Screws, glue and 3 litres of varnish – this was our biggest build yet – but the shedders were up for it
Over the summer 9 trays and 30 cross bars came together assembled and varnished. Our new temporary tent became a godsend as the number of wagons grew and took up a surprising amount of space.
Our Target had been the new school year, and on 17th September we were able to supply Borrow Wood School with 9 more new Welly Wagons. The school ambasadors were on hand to take ownership – we hope you get lots of dry feet in the years to come !
