ONS moves to grow again
Almost as soon as our “Base Camp” container workshop was open, we filled it – it was always going to be the case with a capacity for about 3 people maximum to work inside – Over the summer work went well under the gazebos, but as Autumn drew on and th econtainer filled with work in progress, we recognised that we needed to take steps for some temporary space while we waited for our next hub to be built.
We were fortunate to receive a very timely grant of £850 from the Oakwood Neighbourhood Fund, to purchase a temporary tent structure we could set up to see us through the winter, and within 4 weeks we had our extended space ! The new temporary workshop is a steel framed unit with a fabric covering – to call it a tent is probably unfair as it is a very robust design, and so three of us set out to put up our new workshop.

There’s still more work to do on our temporary workshop, but already it’s proving its worth housing wood and benches etc. It will really only come into it’s own when we have fitted out the new workshop with a floor – this we hope to achieve using pallets and OSB boarding fitted over the top
